All children should have the opportunity to play, to have fun, to enjoy parks like we’ve got here. While this park, Livvi’s Place, is designed to be able to include people with disability, particularly physical and intellectual disabilities, many playgrounds are not. Unfortunately our community is not designed properly to support people with disability in our community.

It has been said many many times, it’s the community that is the barrier to people with disability not the disability in fact.

Today is International Day of People with Disability, it’s a great day to celebrate. But a day also to focus on the needs of people with disability and how we can better support them. Our government is also about changing that. That’s why we’re laying the foundations for a National Disability Insurance Scheme, which will fundamentally change the way we support people with disability.
