NDIS in the Hunter area

The NDIS commenced in the Hunter area of New South Wales on 1 July 2013 for people up to age 65 living in the Local Government Areas of Newcastle, Maitland and Lake Macquarie.

Who can access the Scheme?

A person with an impairment that is likely to be permanent and the impairment makes it difficult to take part in everyday activities can access the Scheme. A person needs to meet disability or early intervention requirements, as well as age and residence requirements.

If you are an existing client of a disability service, the NDIA will contact you about transitioning into the Scheme. Existing national and state-based services and supports will continue until eligible people start their plan with the NDIS.

Office locations

There are three NDIS offices in the NSW. They are open from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
