Entry level programs
Stepping Into program
The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) participates in the Australian Network on Disability's (AND) Stepping Into program (external) which is an annual paid internship designed specifically for university students with disability, who want to gain paid hands-on work experience in their chosen field of study.
The program places students into the workplace for 152 hours of paid work over the summer or winter semester breaks, however we are flexible in working with the students to suit their needs.
The intern program can be a life-changing experience for participating students, with the program proven to close the gap in employment after graduation for students with disability.
To apply or for more information please visit AND's Stepping Into program Information for Students page (external).
The NDIA's Graduate entry level program is designed to provide you with a solid foundation to commence your career with the NDIA and the Australian Public Service.
Indigenous Australian Government Development Program (IAGDP)
We are striving to improve employment opportunities of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people through participation in programs like the Indigenous Australian Government Development Program (IAGDP) (external).
The IAGDP is a 15 month entry-level program, facilitated by the Department of Education and Training, combining ongoing employment with structured learning leading to a Diploma of Government. The IAGDP aims to increase the representation of Indigenous Australians working in the Australian government.
The program provides support to participants, along with a competitive remuneration package.
The program includes three main components:
- a diploma-level qualification
- full-time work experience and on-the-job-training
- other learning and development opportunities.
For more information and to apply for the IAGDP please visit the Department of Education and Training website (external).
