Whether you have children who are NDIS participants attending school or learning remotely, understanding what the NDIS supports and what the education system is responsible for, is important.

For a quick overview of responsibilities, see the how NDIS works with the education system page.

See the Information for families and carers of school aged NDIS participants pack, designed to help families and carers manage plans, supports and education arrangements during coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions in Victoria.

Always reach out to your Local Area Coordinator if your child is seven years of age and above, or your Early Childhood Partner if they are under seven years of age, if your child’s support needs have changed.

If you have school specific questions, you should always talk to your school or school principal in the first instance.

In Victoria, the Department of Education and Training (DET) has a COVID-19 hotline which is operating during business hours (9am to 5pm).

Call 1800 338 663 (if you need an interpreter call 131 450 first), to speak with a DET representative. See the DET website for information, updates and advice about coronavirus (COVID-19).
