What is a compensation reduction amount (CRA) and why do I need an estimate?

If you are a current or prospective NDIA participant who has suffered a personal injury, and are considering a settlement or agreement about that personal injury, you may need to know how much your NDIS plan might be adjusted by, when you receive compensation.

A CRA estimate will give you an idea of how much your existing or future NDIS plan might be adjusted by when we take into account compensation payments.

About the CRA online estimator and how to use it

The CRA online estimator is a tool that will generate your CRA estimate immediately.

The estimator will ask you to enter key information about your potential compensation and other information and create an estimate for you.

Once you have answered all the questions, press calculate.

The tool will produce an immediate CRA estimate, which you can use when considering a compensation settlement.

Why does the tool produce an estimate only?

It’s important to remember that the CRA online estimator produces an estimate only, based on the details you enter into it.

Your final CRA will be calculated from the information the NDIA receives after your compensation claim is finalised. This means the final compensation reduction amount you see in your plan may be different to your CRA estimate produced by the estimator.

If you have any questions about the CRA online estimator, contact the NDIS or email our Compensation Recoveries team at [email protected].
