Release of Mental Health Papers
The NDIA is pleased to publish the following papers relating to the integration of mental health in the Scheme.
Psychosocial Disability and the NDIS: An Introduction to the Concept of Holistic Psychosocial Disability Support
During an initial NDIA Mental Health Roundtable in February 2014, it was agreed that a concept paper exploring recovery principles and holistic psychosocial disability supports be developed.
Clinical psychologist and leading academic, Mr Paul O’Halloran, produced a draft report that was refined through consultation with key national stakeholders, including Mental Health Australia, the Department of Social Services and Ms Janet Meagher (member of the NDIS Independent Advisory Council).
The paper is available below:
Mental Health and the NDIS: A Literature Review
The Mental Health and the NDIS: A Literature Review examines the current state of evidence relating to the impact of psychosocial disability in the context of the implementation of the National Disability Insurance Scheme Act 2013.
Development of the literature review was intended to assist the work of the NDIS Independent Advisory Council in advising the NDIA Board, and more generally, to provide a resource to people interested in the implementation of the NDIS for people with disabilities of a psychosocial nature.
The review was commissioned by Mind Australia for the NDIS Independent Advisory Council and was undertaken by the Centre for Mental Health within the School of Population and Global Health at the University of Melbourne.
