The NDIA has published advice provided by the Justice Advisory Panel, which is focused on improving outcomes for people with disability who interact with the justice system.
The Panel was an expert advisory group established by the NDIA in September 2024. The Panel’s advice outlines practical actions to improve policy and systemic issues at the NDIS and justice interface.
The 4 advice papers describe the need to:
- strengthen understanding about the roles and responsibilities of the NDIA and NDIS supports
- work together earlier, by sharing important information
- improve provider capability and safeguarding
- support young people through earlier intervention and coordinated responses between stakeholders.
Together, the advice supports a more coordinated approach to improve outcomes for people with disability who interact with the justice system.
