Mobility reduction payment scheme supports Victorian providers

The Victorian and Commonwealth Governments have announced a $15 million Worker Mobility Reduction Payment initiative.

The initiative will enable registered NDIS providers to reduce the movement of support workers between residential disability facilities where possible, to help prevent the spread of coronavirus.

The NDIA will support registered Supported Independent Living (SIL) and Short Term Accommodation (STA) providers and the Victorian Government will support residential services providers that have not yet transferred fully to the NDIS (transfer providers).

The funding is in place so that where providers need to reconfigure shifts, they can recognise the impact on affected workers. Payments to providers will also support sourcing additional workers.

The NDIA will be contacting eligible SIL and STA providers with more information on opting in to the payment scheme.

The initiative runs until 31 December 2020.
