NDIA continues to take action against fraud

The NDIA continues to take measures to protect NDIS participants from fraudulent activity.

The Agency, with the assistance of the Australian Federal Police, today executed a search warrant at a Kellyville Ridge premises following complaints over the misuse of participant funding. A 37 year old woman is assisting with enquiries.

The raid was part of an ongoing investigation by the NDIA’s Scheme Integrity Branch.

This week’s action comes after recent activity from the NDIS Fraud Taskforce.

Last month two people were jailed for a combined nine years after pleading guilty to committing fraud against the NDIS.

A Sydney woman was also charged following a multi-agency investigation into alleged fraud against the Scheme on a separate matter last month.

“The NDIA is constantly monitoring its fraud control arrangements to protect the Scheme and the Agency from exploitation through fraud,” the NDIA’s Branch Manager of Scheme Integrity, Scott Britton, said.

“We simply will not tolerate the misuse of funds intended to support people with disability, so all of our participants can be assured we will continue to protect their plans.”

Anyone with information about suspected fraud involving the NDIS should contact the Fraud Reporting Hotline on 1800 650 717.
