Proposed NDIS legislation introduced to parliament

Minister for the NDIS the Hon. Bill Shorten MP introduced NDIS legislation to Parliament on 27 March 2024. The changes proposed in the legislation create the scaffolding needed to follow key NDIS Review recommendations. They also clarify existing legislation and rules to return the Scheme to its original intent.

There are no immediate changes today. The proposed legislation will now be considered by Parliament. It is important to reinforce that those directly impacted by key decisions about the Scheme will continue to play a key role in developing the detail and in implementing the reforms.

This will include continued consultation with the disability community and a dedicated program of co-design with the NDIA to implement any changes.

You can read the Minister’s press release on the Minister’s website.
