The Australian Government is making it easier for eligible NDIS participants to access high quality housing following a range of reforms to build confidence in the Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) market.

The Australian Government has announced $100 million in funding for programs aimed at empowering people with disability across Australia to be independent and engage fully in social, economic and community life.

Minister for the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), Stuart Robert, today officially opened the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission (NDIS Commission) Victorian office, alongside Federal Member for Chisholm, Ms Gladys Liu. Minister Robert said the establishment of the NDIS Commission is vital to ensure we protect the right of NDIS participants to receive safe and quality services along with the integrity of the Scheme.

New information relating to compensation in the NDIS context is now available.

From Monday 2 September, participants will see improvements to the way their budget is displayed in the NDIS myplace participant portal. These improvements in the NDIS myplace participant portal will give detailed information about allocated and spent funding.

The Australian Government has announced applications are now open to share in $62 million worth of National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Information, Linkages and Capacity Building (ILC) grants.

From 1 October 2019, NDIS participants will be able to receive funding through their NDIS plans for the disability-related health supports they need as a direct result of their disability, and as part of their daily life.
