The Australian Government has today published the NDIS Provider and Worker Registration Taskforce’s independent advice to Government on a proposed system of regulation for NDIS providers and workers.

A clear definition of NDIS Supports which outlines what will and won’t be funded through the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) will provide greater clarity for people with disability and strengthen the Scheme, NDIS Minister the Hon. On 27 March 2024, the Australian Government introduced proposed changes to the NDIS Act to set up the scaffolding needed to start making the NDIS stronger and to improve outcomes for NDIS participants. As part of the proposed legislative amendments to Section 10 of the NDIS Act, Government has developed draft definitions of NDIS Supports which describe what NDIS funding can and cannot be spent on. The Autism Advisory Group (AAG) met in Sydney on 18 June 2024 for their third meeting this year. Some members joined online.

The Neurodegenerative, Palliative Care and Rare Diseases Advisory Group (NPR) met online on 23 May 2024.

The Children’s Expert Advisory Group (CEAG) met for the first time on Monday 22 July in Melbourne. This was a hybrid meeting conducted in person and online.

The latest NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) Quarterly Report shows continued signs of cost stabilisation and better outcomes for participants, their families and carers, including more parents in paid jobs and more participants socialising and actively taking part in their communities.

In June 2024, the Australian Government announced a grant round to fund community-based self-advocacy and peer support programs. This Peer Support and Capacity Building grant round has now closed. Thank you to everyone who has shown interest in the Peer Support and Capacity Building grant round.
