NDIS pathway reform

Building a better NDIS

We're making big changes to the way we deliver the NDIS to support people with disability to achieve their goals. This is referred to as the NDIS pathway reform, or the Pathways Program.

How it began - the pathway review

The NDIA began a 'Pathway Review' in April 2017. This was to address people’s feedback about their experience with the NDIS. We worked with people around Australia to identify areas for improvement.

Workshops were also held across Australia to understand how the newly proposed pathway could better respond to different needs that people with disability have. The people who attended the workshops directly impacted the new pathway designs.

Feedback was captured in the 'Improving the NDIS Participant and Provider Experience' report:

We then started a Participant Reference Group to provide further engagement from participants, their families and carers to inform the pathway improvements.
