What a statutory scheme is
Statutory schemes are a type of compensation provided by Commonwealth, state or territory governments. Statutory schemes are also called SATSS.
You may be able to get support through a statutory scheme if you have been injured in a motor vehicle accident.
Statutory schemes sit alongside your NDIS plan
You may get both NDIS supports and statutory scheme supports.
We consider any statutory scheme supports you get when we create your NDIS plan. We can’t replace or fund supports that your statutory scheme already gives you.
Your plan will be created to complement your statutory scheme supports and any other community and mainstream supports and services you receive.

When you get statutory scheme supports
We may reduce the funding in your next NDIS plan based on the statutory scheme support and payment you receive. We’ll work with you on your plan, and make reasonable and necessary decisions on the NDIS supports you receive.
We do this to make sure your NDIS funding doesn’t double up on your statutory scheme supports and funding.
We’ll create a plan that complements your statutory scheme supports.
Tip: Need help letting us know about your statutory scheme claim and compensation?
We have a dedicated team to help you with anything related to compensation, statutory scheme supports and your NDIS plan. You can get in touch with the team by emailing [email protected].
If you disagree with a decision about your statutory scheme supports
You can make an appeal with your statutory scheme if you disagree with their decision on your claim.
You must appeal through your statutory scheme before asking for similar NDIS supports.
You can ask for a decision review if you don’t agree with a decision we've made about your NDIS funding and supports.
