Information on NDIA legal services costs

The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) fully respects the person’s right to seek a review of a decision made by the NDIA under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Act 2013.

In line with this, the NDIA takes a conciliatory approach to all Administrative Appeal Tribunal (AAT ) appeals reflected by the fact that almost 90 per cent of all AAT matters are resolved without going to hearing.

The NDIA has not spent $10 million in any year on barristers and legal services.

It also important to recognise as of 31 December 2017 the total number of AAT appeals since the start of the NDIS in 2013 was 568. This represents just 0.3 per cent of all access decisions.
